Magellan Rubin is a director known for emotionally charged storytelling and a visually distinctive approach. Shaped by growing up as a triplet in a large family, his work explores complex characters and recurring themes of identity, desire, and personal truth. In an era saturated with constructed narratives, he gravitates toward projects that are direct, honest, and unapologetically real.
After beginning his career as a cinematographer, Magellan transitioned into directing to take full authorship of the stories he wanted to tell. His first major assignment was a short film for the Wyoming Health Department addressing the impact of secondhand smoke on children. The film’s raw portrayal of a single mother confronting the consequences of her addiction established his reputation for handling social issues with emotional precision and dramatic clarity.
He has since directed commercials for global brands including Mercedes-Benz, Puma, and TAG Heuer, as well as music videos for major artists such as G-Eazy. Magellan is currently developing original projects and pursuing opportunities in episodic television. He is based in Venice Beach, California.
